A timeless dessert, this smooth and velvety chocolate fondue is made with rich cream, semi-sweet chocolate, and a hint of flavor essence. Serve it warm with bite-sized fruits or cakes for an interactive, indulgent treat.

Ingredients

Chocolate Fondue Base

  • ½ cup fresh cream

  • 150 g semi-sweet chocolate bar (chopped)

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • 1 tsp fruit flavor essence (strawberry, orange, or banana recommended)

For Dipping (Suggestions)

  • Banana slices

  • Apple chunks

  • Strawberries

  • Pineapple cubes

  • Marshmallows

  • Pound cake or brownie cubes

Method

Step 1: Prepare the Cream Mixture

  1. In a heavy-bottom saucepan, combine butter, cream, and sugar.

  2. Heat gently over medium-low heat until it just begins to boil. Remove from heat and keep aside.

Step 2: Melt the Chocolate

  1. Using a double boiler, melt the chopped chocolate until smooth and glossy.

  2. Add the warm cream mixture to the melted chocolate gradually, stirring continuously to blend.

  3. Add the fruit flavor essence and stir well until the fondue is silky and fully incorporated.

Step 3: Serve

  1. Pour the finished fondue into a fondue pot or a heatproof serving bowl placed over a small tea light.

  2. Serve warm with assorted fresh fruits, cake cubes, or other bite-sized treats.

Chef’s Notes

  • Keep the fondue warm over a tea light or small burner to maintain consistency.

  • Add a splash of liqueur like Grand Marnier or Kahlúa for an adult version.

  • For a darker, less sweet fondue, use bittersweet chocolate and reduce the sugar.

  • Fondue fountains are ideal for parties, keeping the chocolate warm and flowing continuously.
